Is the markup on this site broken? I see a lot of square brackets, not the intended rendering. This has always been the case for me (Safari on Mac), even with the old site design.

Example:

There have been two site updates that rendered a lot of the old posts close to unreadable.

The end of BBCode as seen above was one, and the other was when using "return" added a paragraph spacing for after one update and then reverted back to just a line space with the subsequent one meaning that many posts from that time are now solid impenetrable blocks of text.

No plan to fix this?

Not as the moment, it would be a lot of work and noone has ever asked about it that I am aware of.  As a background task I might look into the feasibility of it, but as a high risk, high effort and low reward task, I certainly wouldn't provide any promises on it.

Back in the day (a few years ago now...), I went over quite a few posts, when requested by Members, making posts legible again, and it was a slog each time (I did, normally, a whole topic at a time...). Some info, though, just was no longer there (notably photos...), so the absolute value was limited. I doubt that there's much, if any, value to be added with what's left, and, in my view, it would be difficult to write a robot script to do it, as there was quite a bit of interpretation involved. Feasible for a 'one-off' request, on the understanding that it might not be possible at all, given the time passed since those updates. :friends:
