Tinderwill Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 (edited) Hello! I thought it might be time to revisit the age-old question of gigbags for the Mustang bass. It seems a near impossible problem to solve to full satisfaction, and I don’t understand why Fender won’t simply… make one. What is the bass community’s current take on this issue? Hit me, internet! /Patrik Edited June 2, 2024 by Rich Quote
Len_derby Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Thomanns, Beatbass gig bag. Just right for my Mexican-made Mustang with P-J pick-up configuration. Quote
police squad Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 I've got a fender one, its a perfect fit so they do exist 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 I use a guitar Mono M80. Not cheap but neither was the bass so worth it imo. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Would ordinary guitar ( not acoustic ) gigbags work? I got one for my headless Washburn status which fits just about . Quote

police squad Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 (edited) I bought this from DV247 FBSS610 Short-Scale Bass Gig-Bag (Black) it was 31 quid. It's not the heaviest duty thing, but my gear only goes in and out of my car, so it's ok for me Andertons have them at 38 quid GAK have something at 30 quid Edited June 2, 2024 by police squad 1 Quote
ezbass Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 I have the Fender SS bag, a Protection Racket one (now discontinued I think) and 2 Maruszczyks. The Fender is the best fit of the bunch. Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Fender used to make one called the urban short scale gig bag. I have a pair of them which I use with my JMJ mustangs. They're not particularly heavy duty but for any gig/rehearsal where I can put my basses on the back seat of my car, they're perfect. The grab handle on the front is a great convenience when you have a bunch of bits & pieces to carry for load in/out. Quote
ezbass Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 This just appeared in the Bass Direct, weekly email, by coincidence https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/gator-4g-jazzmaster-guitar-gig-bag/ 1 Quote
Owno Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 (edited) I use a Mono Sleeve guitar case for my Mustang and it works great. Not the cheapest case, but it is great for most short scale basses. I kind of wish I bought the Mono m80 instead as it is a bit more sturdy so that would be my recommendation. Edited June 3, 2024 by Owno Quote
Paul S Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 All my shorties - Mustang, Dano Longhorn, SG, EB3 - fit into Thomann E Guitar Deluxe gig bags, which cost the princely sum of £26. A bargain if you happen to be buying other things. More protection than the Fender gig bag, which I was less than impressed with. https://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_gigbag_deluxe_egitarre.htm Quote
Pea Turgh Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Did your old Vista fit in one of those Thomann bags, @Paul S? Quote

knicknack Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Another vote for the Gator Jazzmaster bag... I do also use a new Gator Icon (Guitar size) for my Acinonyx and it fits beautifully. Not cheap, but really tough. Quote

I have the Sleeve as well and although it's a tight squeeze with the headstock, it fits just fine. 1 Quote
ped Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 If you want a wearable gig bag but with a bit more padding and shock resistance, have a look at this one I use mine a fair bit, although it's quite bulky. I also have the fender gig bag which is of course much lighter and better for a very short trip. Quote
Guest Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 This works well for me: Gator G-PG ACOUSTIC Pro Go Series Acoustic Guitar Gig-Bag You can usually get them through Amazon. Quote

ezbass Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Just seen a post on the Mustang FB group page, by someone who bought one, that the Gator Jazzmaster bag, mentioned above, is a good fit. 1 Quote
Kyndainverse Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 I have the standard Fender ss bag. But this is an interesting option I’ve just stumbled across. Other patterns available. But this pick show a mustang bass. https://www.homeoftone.co.uk/products/mother-mary-company-soft-case-gig-bag-kokomo-pre-order?_pos=1&_psq=Gig+bag&_ss=e&_v=1.0 1 Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 I recently received a Fender FBSS610 as it was included with my sienna sunburst player mustang bass. It seems to be at least as good as my trusty urban short scale bass gig bags. I really like the bag that came with my US acoustasonic jazzmaster, it seems like it offers almost a hard case level of protection. I believe it is a Fender FE1225, however it is internally around an inch or so too short to accommodate a mustang bass. There is a version for long scale bass called the FB1225, but if a short scale bass version was available I would definitely buy two. Quote
