La Bella LTF's. Cutting it fine, in both senses of the word

I recently bought my first set of these strings, they feel great and are definitely the smoothest flats I've ever used. One thing I was wary of though is, the warning they have on their pack. Only the silk portion of the string should wrap around the tuning post or the string will break. No problem I thought, it never usually is then this....

I'd never noticed before, but my Group III Ernie Ball flats are near enough the same.

If it is a problem you can thread the string through a washer or a nut to space the ball away from its fixing point, and loose a few mm of string length.
