E sharp
Mods- please feel free to delete, if this is against any of the rules. I put up an ad in the Wanted section, asking if anyone had one of these amps to sell. The Wanted section never seems to attract many views at all. There's often a reply to the selling of something, only for someone to reply that there's someone wanting one, in the Wanted section . I know that they don't come up for sale that regularly, and it's a struggle to find any one anywhere at all for sale second hand. Are they going down the same route if the fabled Sadowsky SA200- ie one pops up every few years or so? Just a question really chaps. asingardenof
Really? I put up a message in the wanted section and had two messages within minutes.
fretmeister
There's just not that many of them around. People that have them tend to keep them. Recent price rises and greater choice of Class D amps (including Aguilar's own) also mean that there's fewer new sales of heavy big iron amps. There are zero DB751 or DB750 in the completed / recent sales on either ebay or Reverb. That alone confirms that they are rare and people do not want to sell. I had a quick look at new ones and it seems that many places like GAK and GuitarGuitar just do not stock them anymore even if they carry other Aguilar models. As they are now £3500 they are not going to have one sitting around for years on a shelf, so it's special order only. I've been on here for at least a decade and I reckon I've only seen 2 for sale in that time. Unless you get lucky, if you want one you'll have to buy a new one. With the rarity of used ones I'd assume a used one would be 75% of the new price. You'll just have to put a new Wanted ad up every month and save searches on ebay and reverb. Maybe send an email to the bass shops to ask them to look out for one for you as well. Edited June 17 by fretmeister Spelling.
fretmeister
I suppose you could also email the backline hire places to see if anyone has one they are not using? I'd expect 99% of their kit to be Ampeg and Ashdown but you never know.

The Galley's one is sold, and the one that is for sale on here from last year, that doesn't show as sold (maybe sold?) is being sold by someone that never replies to messages at all. I guess I'll keep a lookin'
fretmeister
I saw the one listed here last year. @Jackemmings logged in on Friday by the looks of things. Jack - if the amp has sold can it be marked up that way? Then the mods can close the sale thread. There is also another username of @Jackemmings1 for some reason. E sharp
I've messaged him already- no reply. Did the same last year, after he reached out to trade the amp with a bass I was selling. Held off other buyers, and after weeks of no communication, sold it to someone else. Messaged him on FB, but I think his settings are set to no messages seen, unless you're one of his FB Friends. Waste of time. I'll keep on looking

I check their site daily.

ossyrocks
Jack Emmings isn’t the best at online communication. He’s generally on the road a lot. I bought an amp off him last year. Once we had established a dialogue though he was great to deal with. Rob

E sharp
Thanks for thinking of me mate. I called them last week, and was told a deposit had been put down on it by someone.

mattpbass
Having owned one I can confirm two things. 1) Probably the best sounding amp I’ve ever used. 2) So heavy I couldn’t be bothered to lug it about. 😅 2
snorkie635
Probably my main gigging amp, but it's seriously heavy and produces noticeable hiss in small venues (you don't hear this when the music kicks in however.)
fretmeister
I nearly bought one several years ago Then I tried to lift it. Nah. Edited June 20 by fretmeister

fretmeister
I wouldn't buy a proper SVT either - the Heritage re-issue one is 85lb!!

E sharp
Yes thanks - if I was to buy the 750, his would be the one I'd buy. In many ways they're different amps, so it's the 751 is the one I'm after. Thank you though
