It isn’t 
when I fix my coffee machine, I like the fact that “I did that”. A neck that you made is a million times better than one that you buy.

Exactly. Actually 2 millions time better. And I didn’t spend extra money for fretless neck. That’s what I did.

But any neck I make will probably be a thousand times worse.

How did you do the CA coating on the fingerboard, and which CA glue did you use?

varnish works better

I wiped it on. Used Screwfix No-nonsense stuff, cheap as chips. Took a bit of sanding back. I don't think wear will be a problem as I  put on tape wound nylons after trying a Rob Allen Mouse in Bass Direct..
