Rabbie Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 Hi peeps, I need to do only one gig in Dublin and probably another one in Belfast, in mid August. Then back over to Scotland. Any tip on hiring a decent 3/4 double bass in Dublin and another one in Belfast? Or anybody in this esteemed forum that lends basses for a fee? I have a plethora of pickups and mics so that isn’t a deal breaker. Needs to be well set up though. A car on the ferry is a bit too expensive and flying a bass for such a short engagement is definitely more hassle than it’s worth, so I’d be delighted with any advice. thank you in advance Quote
Rabbie Posted June 30, 2024 Author Posted June 30, 2024 Still getting nowhere with this. I googled and messaged a couple of places but no reply, so if anyone has some inside knowledge it would be brilliant. Quote
Burns-bass Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 It may be worth posting in the “General” section (if that’s allowed). Possibly more likely to find someone in NI that could help you. Would lend you the David Gage, but you’re quite far away! 1 Quote
PaulThePlug Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Try dropping Gerry at https://hazeguitars.com/ a shout... He is bassed(!) near Dublin, but may know of more local places etc... 1 Quote
Rabbie Posted June 30, 2024 Author Posted June 30, 2024 Thanks guys! I’ve got a David Gage Czech Ease but the flight case is a bit too fragile now. Maybe I should just take that and buy a seat for it. I will indeed try Gerry, thanks Paul. Quote
tinyd Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 I'm based in Galway so I don't know much about what's available in Dublin or Belfast, but it might be worth getting in touch with this shop - they may rent instruments (or know somebody who does) https://www.crehans.ie/musical-instruments 1 Quote
Rabbie Posted July 1, 2024 Author Posted July 1, 2024 Thanks very much Tinyd - I’ve just emailed them. Good shout. R 1 Quote
