As long as the bass plays well and isn't a boat anchor I will be quite happy. Like I mentioned previously, I can always run it through an external preamp if the sound needs a bit of extra juice. General consensus seems to be that the stock pickups are okay. Mostly I'm just looking for something decent to have around to keep my chops up to scratch on.
