jonnybass
Hi all, I cant ever seem to get my head around power supply requirements. I have a Zoom B6 and I was looking to add it to a pedal board, can i use the pedal board power supply for this unit? or do i need to stick to the supplied individual power supply?? Japhet
You can use your pedal board supply as long as it has enough juice. Check the milliamps required to run the Zoom. I've had no problems doing this.
jonnybass
It says 9v DC 500mA, centre negative. Is that 500 Milliamps? 9v DC centre negative, is that "boss style"? Jonny
MichaelDean
You are correct in your assumptions. What is the power supply on your board?
jonnybass
It’s a Cioks Adam, which if I read correctly is 250MA output. So am I correct that I would need either a doubler for it or another power supply?
MichaelDean
Yep. Either a current doubler or a different supply. I recently bought the below cable. It's sold as a CCTV adapter, which means there isn't a guitar stuff extra markup. Does the job perfectly to double the current to power my GX-100 from my power supply. https://amzn.eu/d/08OxwCGL Edited July 9 by MichaelDean
jrixn1
When buying a current doubler, bear in mind that Cioks are different to most other power supplies in that they use RCA connectors. e.g. https://www.gak.co.uk/en/cioks-flex-8800-parallel-current-doubler-10cm-4in-grey/926340 Edited July 9 by jrixn1
BigRedX
If you get another power supply you'll need one with sufficient power for ALL your pedals, not just the Zoom. Add up the consumption figures for everything on your pedal board and then add 25% for future purchases.
tauzero
Something else to be aware of is that if the B6 is like the B3, it needs a true isolated power supply.
