Up for sale I have my absolutely stunning Leduc Modern 4 bass guitar, built in 1994 by French master luthier Christophe Leduc.  Picked this up from Will at Bassbros last year, previously belonged to our own @Gardenerben.

Gorgeous design, the ash body under the red finish is really smart and the Padouk neck is one of the thinnest and fastest I’ve used.  Bass arrived to me in standard tuning but also plays in B Standard wonderfully.  Preamp is a clever little design; 2 band EQ, with the toggle switch on, the treble control also controls the mids.  Boosting treble cuts mids and rolling back treble boost them.  Dummy pickup coil hidden behind the control panel keeping things quiet.

Originally built for French musician Sylvin Marc.  The bass was the successor to the MNV and precursor to the Maurad.

EL-5 Preamp

The bass is in really good condition for its age, hard to believe it’s 30 years old!  There are surface marks and swirls here and there as you'd expect, usual wear to hardware, couple of pots are a little scratchy but nothing to worry about.

Oh!  Now that is nice - so much better than the Ibanez EHBs (I don't like fanned fretboards).  And that upper horn gives me the... er... let's just say I like it! 😉

Following some time listed with Bassbros at £1,599 and not finding it’s new home, I’ve decided to make this bass available on here again.  I’m unfortunately in a position now where I need to move this bass on quite urgently to raise much needed cash, so I’m going to take a big hit on it to help it find a deserving home.

So I’m slashing the price right down to just £1,149.  Ibanez money for a stunning example of French luthiery.

Hoping for a UK buyer for an easy meetup to avoid couriers wherever possible!  International sales still doable, though I will need to source a hardcase to send it in first, which we can chat about.

Cheers!

Thanks to Tony's generosity, once it's made its journey across channel, this bass will now ship safely in a custom fitted hardcase :D

Still just £1,149 plus actual shipping costs.

This is an utter bargain for such a high end instrument

And it's painful! 😓 Definitely wasn't a bass I'd ever thought id sell either, which makes it even worse, but needs must.

The Leduc name is perhaps not as well known here for it to be recognised just how cheap this is, and no doubt a certain 2016 politician decision is impacting interest elsewhere... 🙃

If it helps, the last retail price on the 1st of August 2019 for a Maurad 4 (the bass this one was the precursor to) was ... €4900 Euros, so £4135 GBP at todays exchange rate: At £1149 GBP is even more than an utter bargain!
