Only an expression, I know, but I was absent (at work...) when a spark ignited our sofa, and I lost my Antoria Hummingbird 12-string acoustic. My Good Lady extinguished the blaze, but too late for the guitar (and the sofa...). 'Stuff' happens.

I'm not a guitarist but if i was it would be a Les Paul. Love the look and the tone is music to my ears.

However, my go to would still be my 59 Les Paul Junior, which I’ve owned for over 30 years.

I actually used it for the first time in ages on a gig last Saturday and it is just one of those

guitars that ‘fits’ me. No frills one P90 pickup, one vol/one tone and a nice fat neck which I

always go for on any guitar. Will be with me till I can no longer play. 
 

 

I had one of those for a few years. Sold it to my brother. It was/still is awesome

They are great instruments. Hard to believe they were built as beginner’s models in the

1950’s, so versatile too. Can be quite ‘Fendery’ yet still have that great midrange thing.

 

Best other 6 string I played was a mate’s 54 Fender Esquire, that used to belong to
Mick Ralphs from Mott the Hoople and Bad Company. Single pickup Tele really,

but with such tone and the best neck I’ve ever tried.

simple is sometimes best. I love a good telecaster. Wish I'd kept the jr now, but still have a '67 SG jr

I'm not a guitarist (or a bass player, some might say... ), but if I were, it would have to be a butterscotch blonde / black guard Tele (or even better, an Esquire) or a TV yellow Les Paul Junior. Just love those simple planks.

That’s a nice SG. A friend of mine had an almost identical model in one of the first bands I played

in, sounded ace even through his HH amp!
Does yours have any neck dive?

I'm in an even smaller minority - I love their solid electric models!!

Indeed: Preacher and Breadwinner and the like? I remember Glen Campbell ofter played a Breadwinner to great effect.

I used to have a Tokai '58 style Flying V but sold it a long time ago to get a vastly more practical Fender MIJ Tele Thinline. The V was a great looking guitar, so if I could get any guitar I'd go for the modern Gibson equivalent which has a list price of £9699.

 

Out of the guitars I have, the one I probably play the most is my epiphone worn black casino, but if I want the sound of a strat my black vintera hardtail strat is as good as any strat I've played.

One of those would be very nice indeed, but if I had that much money to spare I'd buy a decent carved double bass instead (which is cheaper anyway, IIRC). 

I used to have one made c. 1981 but sold it recently to someone able to do the work it greatly needed. It did good service for jazz purposes and even some other genres on occasion.

These days I am mostly using a G&L ASAT.

It's been so long since I've gigged it, I dont really know. Its very very light though. I swapped a 100 watt Marshall Superbass for it, with a guy in Newcastle. It's got a great neck on it too

The first guitar I bought was a Cort headless Flying V.

 

 

It was that colour when I bought it, but it is currently banana yellow. I plan on stripping it and staining it walnut at some point.
