solo4652
Folks - after almost 20 years of playing covers, I may shortly be joining a crew playing originals. Lots of songs already written and recorded e.g. Is there a free website or software program that will quickly and easily identify the song chords? Never had to do anything like this before - I'm so used to looking tabs up on Ultimate Guitar and playing what I find.
tauzero
Don't the band have the chords written down? I've used one in the past and I can't remember what it was, and haven't got it bookmarked, annoyingly. However, there is a review of seven free chord finders here.
BigRedX
If they are all like that the bass line is nice and loud in the mix so it should be fairly easy to work it out by ear.
Dad3353
It sounds like 'E-A-D-G', ( that's two notes, then same again a tone down...) repeated ad infinitum, to me, with frills and little 'funky' runs as decoration. If it's all 'funk' like this, no chord charts are needed. Just find those 'key' notes and play 'em to death.
PaulWarning
to answer the question, there's program I've used for years, Digital Music Mentor, it's old but downloads of a free version can be found (limited use), it's not perfect but gets you in the ball park https://digital-music-mentor.en.lo4d.com/windows it also has a stab at the bass line of songs as well, again not perfect but gives you an idea edit, if it's like mine script error box appears, just keep clicking yes and it opens eventually Edited July 16 by PaulWarning
Switch625
Riffstation does this, and was free until Fender bought it and pulled the plug completely around 2018/2019. However, thanks to the Internet Archive WayBack Machine website, it's possible to get the install files for the free version and use it still. I've had these saved in my bookmarks for years: Windows install file - https://web.archive.org/web/20190215124211/https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/riffstation-downloads/Riffstation.exe Mac install file - https://web.archive.org/web/20190215044824/https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/riffstation-downloads/Riffstation.dmg Enjoy!
