samuelcroberts Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 (edited) Hi Guys, I have a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2 head that I've used for ages. Has been a backup for a while now, but plugged it in the other day and something is awry... Basically a very loud white noise/hiss is constantly present when on, even when the input is muted, so definitely something going on in the amp. Gets louder if you turn up the master. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Is it worth fixing and, if so, does anyone have any amp tech recommendations in the Birmingham area? Cheers! Sam Edited July 16, 2024 by samuelcroberts Quote
BreadBin Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Check the valve is properly seated, my Shuttle 6.0 did this and that solved the issue. 1 Quote
Rich Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Likewise my Shuttle 9.2. Same problem, same solution. Quote
agedhorse Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 It may be that the valve is not seated properly, but it could be other things as well. Where are you located? Quote
samuelcroberts Posted July 21, 2024 Author Posted July 21, 2024 Cheers for the replies, guys. I am away this weekend, but will check the valve and see if it fixes the issues. samuelcroberts Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 Opened it up and, although it looked like the tube was seated properly, gave it a wiggle and the problem is fixed. Cheers guys! 2 Quote
agedhorse Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 Ok, if the problem returns, Surrey Amps is handling Genz Benz and Mesa repairs for the UK. 1 1 Quote
