So now, after many years of wondering, I totally relate to Britney Spears 'Whoops I did it again'

Only in my case I didn't play with anyone's heart or get lost in the game, I bought another P bass with the idea of having a rounds and flats P bass then came to the realisation that I like my Ps with flats and my Js with rounds

Admittedly there's no natural cadence to that sentence and I'm not even sure Tim Rice could cram it into a tune. Still, the facts are the facts

Bought recently from Scooby, here is the original listing:

I have made some changes to the bass as follows:

  • Bridge replaced with a Badass 2
  • SB2 replaced with a Fralin (not overwound)
  • Brown tort plate
  • Smaller concentric knobs for the vol/tone stack

If you would prefer the original bridge, knobs and plate I can put them back for you. You're stuck with the Fralin though unless you want to swap that out for a no-name spare P bass pick up I have in my parts drawer.... Btw white pickup covers are an option if you are an exotic person like that

The bass itself is a great P bass, does everything a P bass should. It's seen use but is in great condition functionally and aesthetically. I've tried to capture the few marks in the pictures but will list them here for transparency:

  • Neck has previously been fitted to at least one other body - drill holes just visible
  • Small chip out of the headstock on the A tuner post
  • Screw holes from original larger tuners
  • Couple of dinks on the body
  • Small gap and screw hole on the tort plate - the orignal red is a slightly better fit

Sounds great. Lots of P variation from the combo of the vol/tone and the tonestyler. The neck however is beautiful - if I'm honest it's what attracted me in the first place, it has a great feel and is gorgeous to look at. Somewhere in between a J and P in terms of dimensions, plays great all the way through.

Hope this is helpful info, here's some pics of the bass now:

Maybe it’s rounds on maple you don’t like. Have you tried flats on this one?

Flats on maple can sound wonderful:

I’m really enjoying having Precisions with both rounds and flats and now have zero Jazzes.
