paddy109
I've got marks from my strap on the body of my bass. The strap which has dimples and was packed against the bass in its case. The photo doesn't really show how much it is marked and they run the length of the bass. Looks a bit like dirty finger marks. I've tried alcohol wipes but this hasnt removed. I'm at a loss of what to try next. The bass is sparkly shell pink and has dulled quite a bit compared to under pick guard. Im worried if I try any rubbing compound it will change the colour. Any suggestions? BTW I since changed straps!
JPJ
Do you know whether it’s a nitro or poly finish? My Fender Tony Franklin has a nitro finish that marks up from sweat and the only option is the lightest of light buffing compounds to shift it. Whilst it hasn’t affected the colour, it has added a natural looking aged patina which I really like.
Andyjr1515
With the caution of 'always try first in an unseen area' , for gloss I use Meguiers Ultimate Compound from Halfords with one of their white lint free polishing cloths.

Obrienp
Have you tried lighter fluid? I have found it useful to remove marks, including glue residue, without it affecting the finish, even nitro. However, as Andyjr1515 said, try it on an unseen area first.
