beardybass Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 My first vote goes for, 'cutie honey' by Kumi Koda, the song's right cack, but the video is worth a watch... only in a 'hot Japanese girl waving her bits around' kind of way, but still. Oh yeah, great bassline too innit. Quote

JanSpeeltBas Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Elton John's "Nikita" has a beautiful basspart by Pino Palladino but the song makes me go YUK... Quote
Hamster Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I never liked the song, but a stonking bassline - Quote

basswesty Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Ain't no doubt Jimmy Nail. A certain Mr Pratt, I believe, was responsible for this bassline. Terrible song but one of those basslines you just have to learn... Quote

Rich Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 'Men In Black', Will Smith. Sampled (i.e. utterly stolen) from 'Forget Me Nots', which is infinitely the better tune. Also, Gary Numan's 'We Take Mystery (To Bed)'. The song is very average, but Pino's bass is gusset-dampeningly fabulous. Quote

Especially "Sex". What a terrible way to end an album, but what a lovely bass riff. Quote
Thunderthumbs Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go". Cheesy as f*ck, but Deon Estus just absolutely nails it. Quote
Deep Thought Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 We used to do 'Black velvet' when we had a female singer. Hate the song, but used to like playing the bass line-shame I never had a fretless! Quote

doctor_of_the_bass Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 ...Micro-Kid - Level 42 - great line, awful song! Same can be said about `Tracie'!! Thinking about it, `Running in The Family' was pretty naff but a nice line! I thought David Paton (ex Pilot) played bass on Nikita...? I've been listening to `No Parlez' alot recently, one of my fave albums - the slap tone on Sex is awesome! Ku Ku Kurama - another naffish song but the bassline is stonking! Can't really believe that that album is now 26 years old! Quote
