Jack Casady Fretless bass

Yamaha uses top quality rosewood for entry Pacificas, but Fender/Squier and Gibson/Epiphone are putting out some absolute turd for fingerboards now; it's going to be even more obvious on a fretless.

Some Laurel fingerboards I had were extremely gray-ish, very unattractive. For feeling, they were OK.

I have to see the fretless in person, but I think that some oil or carnauba wax treatment will make them virtually identical to rosewood.

Has anyone used Monty’s relic wax on a fretless board?

That seems to really darken anaemic looking Pau Ferro etc

Well well well, finally someone makes an unlined fretless bass, praise the lord, miracles do happen. Just need Fender to wake up and follow suit and I'll be in heaven. I may have to get one of these now just because its unlined but I wish they had more colour options. Plus, I did play a fretted one once and found it mega uncomfortable but who knows, I may just give it a go.

In the interests of fairness, the Fender Tony Franklin P bass has an unlined ebony board 😎

Well…this just got more interesting…genuinely think this bass would sound phenomenal as a fretless.

not this one but the Jack Casady generally.

I’ll probably have to wait for the fretless to be honest - got a bit to pay out on house/studio and car in next few months.

now the blue one is home…I’m ok for jack Casady basses for now

Get the tan one fretted, it's not a huge job and certainly very do-able.

I know, I not helping am I? 😁

Including the crown inlays?  It's gonna look weird fretted without the crowns IMO.

Yeah fair enough, I didn't consider that.

Although I do like the look of no markers at all, but I am a bit weird like that 😁

That last photo of the fretless is not doing my gas any good 😖

Babicz bridge anyone ?

I do like the irony of your moniker Linus27 - maybe should be Linlus27 ? 🤔
