is the truss rod broken?

Is it possible that a Fender bass would have a non standard sized truss rod?

I put the alan key i use for other basses and it just falls in without grip as if it’s bigger or smaller… bit confused.

Basically are all truss rods the same on any model and does the description above sound like the truss rod is broken?

Peace and thank you

D

Not all basses use the same sized allen key, and some are metric and some are imperial.

Did the bass come with a key?  Someone with more Fender knowledge will be along shortly but in order to help you get the right key, you'll need to let us know what bass it is, where it was made and what year it is.

It's possible that the socket is stripped, I hope that's not the case, hopefully it's just a case of using the wrong sized key.
