DDR Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 (edited) Is it possible that a Fender bass would have a non standard sized truss rod? I put the alan key i use for other basses and it just falls in without grip as if it’s bigger or smaller… bit confused. Basically are all truss rods the same on any model and does the description above sound like the truss rod is broken? Peace and thank you D Edited August 9, 2024 by DDR typo Quote
Reggaebass Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Hi, can you see if it’s been rounded off and have you tried a bigger Allen key 1 Quote
neepheid Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Not all basses use the same sized allen key, and some are metric and some are imperial. Did the bass come with a key? Someone with more Fender knowledge will be along shortly but in order to help you get the right key, you'll need to let us know what bass it is, where it was made and what year it is. It's possible that the socket is stripped, I hope that's not the case, hopefully it's just a case of using the wrong sized key. 1 Quote
SurroundedByManatees Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 If I am right the sizes of USA and Mex can be different. Imperial vs metric. Quote
BlueMoon Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Fender Japan typically use metric dimensions. Quote
DDR Posted August 9, 2024 Author Posted August 9, 2024 okkk... some hope there... i will look for some other sizes... this is a Chinese made Telecaster btw 2012 i believe... Quote
BlueMoon Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Try appropriate metric size first in that case. Quote
