I have a passive Fender Japanese Jazz bass circa 1998- 2000 and it’s ace but I get single cool hum unless both pickups are on full. I like the sound at about 90% neck and 60% bridge - but hate the hum - 100% on both is just not doing it for me.

Looking at up to £200 to replace. What recommendations do you have.

I play in an Echo & The Bunnymen tribute now and Les had a 70s MIA Jazz - where as mines a 62 RI but no too bothered about getting 100% his tone - just freedom from 60 cycle hum

ta in advance

The only non Fender jazz pickups I’ve had were Seymour Duncan Hot Stacks, no hum and a bit more oomph to them than regular jazz pickups.

Try EMG, they do work really well with Jazz Basses and they are really dead silent, but you'll need a battery.

Otherwise the Fender Noiseless are very good vertical humbuckers with a tone really close to a single coil.

Was looking at the Gen4 Fenders as I don’t fancy a battery really. Cheers
