PinkMohawk Posted August 12 Share Posted August 12 I've been looking at picking one of these up in the near future, and I was wondering if anyone here has owned one and has any thoughts on them? I've heard that the stock preamp is a little rough, so I suspect that might be a candidate to get swapped out, potentially the pickup too? MichaelDean Posted August 12 Share Posted August 12 I had one of the SBMM SUB Ray 5s. It was really nice to play. I did swap out the preamp for a Retrovibe stinger, but only because I had one laying around. It was a marked improvement on the stock one mind you. Tuners and bridge were fine. I could get through an hour long set without needing to retune. Only moved it on when I got my Dingwall in order to maintain marital harmony.
