Rather than buying endless different amps and storing and humping them about, I am buying a powerful yet small and lightweight head, then I shall try different preamps into the power amp section . It will smooth out the loading process, give me all the variety I could possibly want, and above all it will be fun. Do you not have a tonal aim in mind? I find if I don't I faff around and chase things other people on the interweb say is good. But in my mind my ideal tones are a Warwick Hellborg preamp or a fat warm tube sound... so I go to places that get me close... and then can assess how close I've got with the compromise - otherwise I'ld just find and buy the Hellborg and a Noble or Alembic F2b or something Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
