I seem to be storing drums here so that would solve a problem I do have 👍

JapanAxe
I’ve occasionally justified a purchase with the phrase ‘This will be handy if I get a gig doing [insert unlikely thing here].’ Inevitably the kit in question has just taken up storage space until I eventually sold it at a substantial loss. I’ve just drawn back from the brink of buying some PA kit that will only be useful if (1) a particular project not only gets off the ground but achieves considerable success, or (2) I branch out into live multitrack recording (which tbh I don’t really want to do). It all goes into an 18 inch hardcase on wheels, and it sounds fantastic. This Summer, for the festivals we've had her drums, cymbals, hardware, my double bass, amp, Preamp, sundries, tent, sleeping bags, etc, all in our Focus Estate, with a little room to spare. It solved a problem we actually had. I'm not going to start on me buying stuff to solve a problem I don't have, or don't have yet, cos I'd be here all bloody night! I've finally come to the realisation that I need to get rid of things I'm not using, but it's so hard to get on with it. For those who Facebook, this link is from the Drum Show a couple of weeks ago, when the legendary Bernard Purdie discovered Dave's russian doll kits. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/zd7NKWFJcCtkb46R/ Edited October 12 by NickD 2

As a drummer, mMy amazing and totally infallible idea is a bass with a quick release neck that can be broken down for storage and transport. I mention this to bassists every time I help them carry their kit but they just look at me like I'm a total moron. 😁

I've played with more than one drummer who packs standard drums like this for travel. It's not great, they end up taking forever to set up and usually have badly tuned drums (or just leave one head off), but I do seem to have played with an unusual number of non-driving drummers who have to accept whatever lift they can get. Drummers either have a small car or no car, go figure?

Our drummist currently has a Range Rover so he takes his kit and all the PA gear (and occasionally tows bassists' cars when they've broken down), but is considering downsizing so we might all be on PA conveying duty next year. ped
For me, Impulse Response loaders. I tried one, everything sounded pretty bad, realised that the DI on my amp is already with a speaker sim, which sounds far more natural and less heavy handed than the IRs. For live use I just have a simple LPF on my pedalboard, and set it just above the point where I start to hear a difference in my clean tone through my tweeter-less cabs. It takes the nasty off my fuzz and drive sounds in the DI without doing any complex stuff below that.
MacDaddy
Boss PW-10. Basically a multi FX in a wah pedal. I'd wanted one since they came out 20 years ago. It's still an amazing piece of kit. But I have no practical use for it whatsoever 😆
edstraker123
I have been buying basses and guitars recently just because I like the colour / woods - it is truly ridiculous . I bought a Zoom R12 multitrack this week only to find an equivalent Tascam in my guitar 'Pandoras box' that I'd forgotten I had ). And now there is an Antigua Telecaster locally on FB marketplace that is calling to me....

It's packed up in a cupboard somewhere and Mrs Zero won't tell me where it is, and at the moment we don't have the room for me to put it up anyway. I bought one of those for the same reasons - it turned into one of these and a whole new set of GAS problems!!! Fortunately I know *exactly* where this is!
