Cab advice for Orange AD200B

Hi All,

I’m looking for a new cab for my AD200B. I play in a punk covers band were we play anything from The Clash, The Jam, Sex Pistols to REM and Greenday.

Ive been running an AD200B as my main amp into a Big Twin 2 (Gen 3) pictured below.

The reason I have that cab was that originally I was going down the modelling route and wanted an FRFR cab powered through the power stage of another amp I own.

I’m sorry to say the head actually supasses the modelled version (to my ears anyway) so I’m returning to an old faithful setup of head and cab.

The big twin 2 is immense, but I’m looking for a bit more warmth / colouration from a set of cabs that are not FRFR to get more of a vintage sound. Cab will be up for sale when decision made!

Does anyone have any real world examples of playing an AD200B through any of the following cab options and could recommend?

Barefaced 410T

Barefaced 210T (may add this on later if I go for the 410 so I can run a modular 610)

Orange OBC410

2x Orange OBC115.

videos / sound clips would be perfect!

Cheers

Lee

As you’re used to Barefaced weight Lee, I’d go for their 410. I had one (and the 210 as well for a modular stack) and it has pretty much exactly what you’ve described. Whilst the Orange cabs sound great (and match) they’re very heavy. I was using the BF with Gallien Krueger amps btw, not Orange.

That’s great, thanks! It was pretty much the way I was going to go - the matching “look” was all that was potentially swaying me but that was my heart ruling my head . As it happens my other amp I referred to is a GK Fusion 800S so nice to hear it works with a BF too 👍

I had an AD200B with a matching 410 and 115 years back, a fantastic sounding rig that looked awesome too. If your spine can handle the weight, there's nothing quite like looking at (and playing with!) a full Orange stack.

The Orange 410 is one of the best cabs i've owned and sounds great with the Terror Bass, so I imagine it would sound great with the AD200B. As others have said though they are very heavy! I bought a dolly for mine so at least I can wheel it around when needed.

I had the AD200B running through an OBC410 and it was hands down the best sound I ever had. However, the weight was quite something so I sold it on after a few years. I had the OBC115 too which didn't sound quite as good. I was pairing the 115 with the 410 but invariably the 410 sounded punchier on its own.

I may have a few YouTube clips but as they tend to be shaky live footage from phones at gigs, you are probably better looking up some of the demos on YouTube that are recorded properly.
