guzzibass Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I've been looking lustfully at a US fretted Jaco JB. Has anyone tried/owned one - and what are your thoughts?? Cheers Graham Quote
bnt Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 The only bloke I've heard of with one is Geddy Lee. He's using it on tour at the moment, after playing the fretless version on the new Rush album, so it's a good bet he likes it... Quote
jacko Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Can't understand why anyone would pay a premium for an instrument that looks like someone has knocked the sh*t out of it. pristine and shiny for me I'm afraid. Quote

Tait Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 I can't understand why Geddy Lee is playing a Jaco Jazz when he has his own signature? Why not defret one of his signature Jazz basses? Quote
Mike Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Remember the pickup placement would be different - 70s Vs 60s - as well as other small aesthetic differences. Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 There's a French guy who's recently posted on the bass porn section. He's got one, so you could ask him Quote

The way he tells it, they were in the middle of recording when he got the idea, no time to hit the workshop. Besides, why should he mutilate a bass when he can just call his Fender artist rep and say "can I try one of those, please, eh?" Edited September 4, 2007 by bnt Quote
Tait Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 fair enough. i suppose its also nice to have a change every so often. Quote
SJA Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 what cracks me up about the Jaco custom shop relic Jazz is they supply a cleaning cloth with it- to keep it in its brand new condition? Quote
