Disco tunes in 6/8

To clarify, and to avoid getting bogged down in my eccentric opinions about time signatures, the feel I'm after is disco, but triplets - basically like Knock on Wood by Ami Stewart.

I'm intrigued by the suggestion that 4/4 with consistent triplets isn't the basic definition of 12/8. 

 

Some 18th century 12/8:

 

 

 

4 beats in the bar, compound time, fullstop.
