millar138 Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Hi guys, I’m looking to upgrade the preamp in my Japanese ATK as I’ve found the original doesn’t handle low end all that well (I play in drop C with 135 gauge). I’m looking for a three Band pre amp that’s compatible with the ATK and has plenty of head room. is there is a hazlab 3 band that would work ? If not what’s similar! thanks Quote
Bigwan Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 There is a Haz 3 band clone out there for sale on the FB, but the builder is based in Russia and my experience so far is that you wouldn't need to be in a hurry to receive it... ATK is the ultimate Stingray killer so I'd be aiming more for a 'ray type pre myself. John East does a 4 knob Stingray replacement pre but with a sweepable mid. https://www.east-uk.com/product/mmsr-4-knob-3-band/?v=79cba1185463 Reminds me... I have an ATK700 in bits in the cupboard that I should resurrect... 3 Quote
NancyJohnson Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Dependent on the number of holes in the body, John East kit is by far the most flexible. 1 Quote
DaveyB Posted Thursday at 16:49 Posted Thursday at 16:49 How did you get on with this project. I'd be interested in your ATK Preamp if you fancy flogging it? I have two Japanese ATK's from the 90's (300 and 310) One preamp has dead pots and I'm looking for replacements. The ATK pots are strangely long and the pins are mounted the wrong way. I was also looking at the John East Preamp and original Ibanez parts are getting harder to find Quote
