Why would they put the active/passive switch in the back? It can be useful having a level-compensated EQ preset at the ready that you can switch back and forth to, but with the switch at the back this is made more difficult. I can't tell from the pic what kind of switch was used, but won't putting it at the back also increase the risk of flipping it by accident?

Otherwise cool release! I like the guitar version (Fantomen) a lot too. Obviously borrows a lot from the Gibson RD series, but they have given it a bit of a twist.

I *think* it's a sliding switch, probably recessed down so it's not sitting proud enough to catch on your clothes when you're moving around and playing. I actually prefer having it on a switch rather than a push/pull, but I'd rather it was on the front, though in the interests of keeping the front of the body uncluttered, I get what they're doing. Nice of them to make the gain trim pot accessible without removing the cavity cover too.

Overall I like this a lot, though I'd like to see black hardware on the black one, chrome always stands out too much for me.

Looks really cool.I' m curious how it will sound.

But as I'm still alive yet, I have my doubts about the Nekromant talking to me.😊

I've always loved Hagstrom designs, in the 70's I'd sit and drool at magazine articles about the instruments and the innovations they were bringing to market. This looks like a copout to me, and that classic and enigmatic headstock just looks wrong on such a derivative body shape, like putting a Ric neck on a Precision :(

I think it looks really cool, caught my eye on FB yesterday. Alas, I'd imagine it's neck-dive city....

Have to agree, sadly.

EDIT: 42mm nut as well. Hey ho :(

Love the body shape but yeah, probably neck dive. Bigger issue for me is no "bridge" pickup (both pickups too far north for my liking). It'd probably be a no for me...

A few years ago I was thinking about getting the Hagstrom Phantomen skinny stringer this is based on.

Aesthetically I think it's a great design, somewhere between and RD Artist and an Explorer, but distinctive enough to be it's own thing.

It must be personal choice but on any two PUP bass I usually roll the bridge PUP right off.  I feel bass neck PUPs sound like George Thorogood's guitar on steroids but whatever floats your boat.

I bought the Hagstrom nekromant 4 bass guitar,  love it. But I need to find a case for it. Can anyone recommend a case that will fit it?

Anything to fit a Thunderbird should do - Thomann do (or used to do) a really good quality and inexpensive soft case for T-birds, or an Epiphone T-bird case, and I've found the big rectangular Freestyle cases also fit.

Worth mentioning that standard guitar stands are no good for "reverse" basses - the Hercules stand that hold the neck under the headstock are ideal.

I know it's already been pointed out above the similarity of the Nekromant to the old Gibson RD Artist - to me it seems practically a copy.

They still do, since they have the HB Thunderbird style bass, they've got a solid looking gigbag to go with it. If you're looking for a hardcase, I think the generic ones they sell would probably work? I've got one that just fits my Grabber, though it's a tight fit, so I might be wrong on that count.

Yeah, I like it, but compared to an actual RD it doesn't quite seem right to my eye, though obviously that's where they got the shape from.
