I'm tentatively offering for sale my Canadian-made Lee Sklar Signature in Gun Metal finish. I bought it brand new from a dealer in Japan last year. It started life as a two pickup version, but I missed the P-bass tones that my 3-pickup Combustion and ABII were capable of, so I got the fantastic Kim at ccgx to add the third neck pickup. The correct pickup, screws, inserts and rotary switch were sourced from Dingwall, and he did a fantastic job installing it.

 

The slim body and frets make it really easy to play, with a sleek, fast neck, and the Glockenklang preamp lets you can dial in crisp modern sounds, or fat, warm vintage tones with ease, with the best B string of any fiver I've played, and there's been a few. It's currently fitted with Schaller straplocks, but I can put the Dunlops it came fitted with back on if preferred. It's no heavyweight at 4.4kg, and as you would expect sits beautifully on a strap.

 

So why am I selling? It's an amazing instrument, but lately I've found myself gravitating back to my old Laklands again, especially for the pub gigs, where taking a 5+ grand bass along makes me slightly twitchy! It's only been out of the house a handful of times, so it's in pristine condition, and it makes more sense to let it go now, so someone else can enjoy it, rather than languishing at home. It comes complete with a Dingwall gig bag.

 

Due to the value and rarity of the bass, I would prefer collection in person. I'm less than 10 minutes from junction 10 of the M25, or I can pick you up/drop you off at Woking train station if that's easier. If that's not possible, I can ship at the buyer's cost and risk.
