There's one scale that beats all others for usefulness in creating bass riffs, lines, and fills. This scale can also be played over major and minor chords.

 

You might already know what this scale is because I'm always banging on about it! The shape of this scale should be one that you have under your fingers because, as well as its usefulness for creating, knowing it also helps when learning bass lines.
