Don’t know any of them so probably not !!
More Motown / R&B / Pop Soul

OK, so it will be the Stax/Atlantic/Muscle Shoals styles then.

To break yourself in (as it is as much about the feel as it is about the complexity of the parts) I'd suggest some Wilson Pickett tracks, as their basslines for me (and I'll probably get ripped to shreds for saying this) are a little more obvious than some of the other artists in this style (Otis Redding for example).

@Reggaebass has already sent you in the right direction for Motown.

Have fun - some great stuff to work on.

I used to play in a function band covering Solar artists like Shalamar and The Whispers, the Philly Sounds e.g. O Jays, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes plus KC & The Sunshine Bad, Sat Night Fever and stuff from the Chic stable. Tracks that used to be really popular were And The Beat Goes On (Whispers), There It Is (Shalamar), Disco Inferno (Trammps), Jive Talkin' and Lost in Music (Sister Sledge). Great stuff for the bass player and not a single slap in sight ...or sound. Only hassle is finding singers with good enough chops.

That’s a great one, probably one of my favourite funky basslines along with forget me nots, I’ve played that and it took me a while to learn it as I’m not a very fast player , I used this by our Huw a long time back
