Intonation is perfect with room for the saddles to move either way and no issues with balance.

 

The pickup being nearer the bridge 'might' give it extra punch, but I can't hear it. The original DMT pickup is hot, so that option is there.

It's because the neck is a 22 fret and, rather having the fretboard over hang in to the body, the effective scale (length) has been moved away from the back of the bass. Or, to put it another way, the headstock is further away from the butt end of the bass than a "normal" precision.
