The JHS Pedals Colour Box V2 retains all the features of the V1 while introducing new and enhanced elements such as broader EQ controls, a Hi/Lo switch for significant clean headroom, and compatibility with phantom power for condenser microphones.

The red Gain section comprises three knobs: Master, Pre-Vol, and Step. The Master knob adjusts the unit's overall volume. The Pre-Vol knob modulates the gain between the two internal stages, functioning as a "drive" or "gain" control to add grit, distortion, or fuzz as it's increased.

The Step knob boosts the gain across five preamp stages incrementally. Turning the Step knob from left to right increases the gain as follows: the 1st stage by +18 dB, the 2nd by +23 dB, the 3rd by +28 dB, the 4th by +33 dB, and the 5th by +39 dB.

The Colour Box V2 features a new Hi/Lo switch for managing clean headroom. In Lo mode, it produces ultra-clean sounds without distortion, ideal for tone shaping sans distortion. In Hi mode, it distorts more easily, offering a wide range of overdrive, distortion, and fuzz tones.

Additionally, there's a -20dB pad switch on the Colour Box V2's right side, functional only in XLR input mode, to manage the volume of high-output microphones.

The Hi-Pass filter is activated by a toggle switch beneath the Hi-Pass knob, adjustable from 60Hz to 800Hz with a 6dB per octave slope.

For inputs, the Colour Box V2 includes a combo XLR and 1/4" jack, accommodating both instruments and microphones. Input type is selected with the INST/XLR switch located on the pedal's right side.

The most significant improvements are:

Addition of an Output transformer
Safely Passes 48v Phantom Power
EQ Shift Knobs for precision EQ control
Hi/Lo Switch for ultra-clean headroom
100% available clean signal even on acoustic guitar
Silent switching, aka no "switch-pop"
Runs on standard 9V DC Neg power

The Colour Box V2 features a combination XLR and 1/4" jack for inputs, catering to both instruments and microphones. The type of input is determined by the INST/XLR switch found on the right side of the pedal.
