Custom pedal case making

Hi guys

Has anyone here had a custom case made for your pedalboard?

In have had a good quote from NSP cases. I measured the width, height and depth of my board and got an estimate which I’m happy with.

However, I guess it’s better to add some extra to each internal measurement so that I can add some foam (probably neoprene high density stuff?) to protect the board a bit, maybe some wavy foam in the lid?

I’d like to see some examples if anyone here has had one made or done it yourself. Im thinking a box with the whole lid that lifts off so the board can remain in the base if needs be.

I did find a case on Amazon which was the perfect size but it’s very flimsy. A Maplins one. With the board inside the case bends around the handle so I might as well get a roadworthy one.

Cheers

I just posted this in another thread, but how about some marine ply, glue, a bit of sawing and some foam?

Hm I’m sure I’d enjoy doing that but I’m not confident that I’d do a better job (or for much cheaper) than getting one made properly! I’ve had a quote for £240 including postage which I think is very reasonable.

A proper flightcase is almost indestructible too. I've had my Spider (it was? Is? A brand of ready made cases from Flightcase Warehouse) one for over 15 years now. I replaced the spring/plastic handle about 5 years ago, but the case itself is as solid as the day I received it. I'd say go for it.

Mine has a wooden board in it that I could lift out, but I don't bother. I just lift the lid off and go.

Thanks guys, I have just ordered a custom case from Swan Flight Cases. The trouble I was having was that a typical 'pedalboard' case wouldn't work as my dimensions were outside the minimum required. Instead I've gone for a hinged box which I can lift the board out of which will be perfect. It came to only £230 posted which I didn't think was half bad.

It needed to be fairly wide and tall, but not very deep, to house this lot (obvs not the bass too)

I'll update when it arrives, hopefully I measured properly 😃

Yeyyy it's here - and it turns out I can use a tape measure after all, it fits perfectly! I had a brain wave last minute and had the handle moved to the centre of the lid so that it stays flat when moving.
