My Wal build

Hi all, 

 

I've been on Wal's wait list since 2021 and was finally offered a build slot in June this year. It's due to be completed late next year just in time for my 30th birthday (fingers crossed).

 

In the last week I've selected my facing and had a progress picture of the neck. I'm not sure how many pictures I'll get but figured some people may be interested considering how difficult it is to get a new Wal.

Sorry I should have posted specs.

 

5 string fretted mk3 (the facing image above has a mk2 body template over it, but it ill be a mk3 shape)
Ziricote top
Lightweight body
Clear gloss finish
Triple veneer

White dots and sidedots on very dark (black) ebony fretboard.
Blacked out neck with satin playing area
Gold hardware
Stainless steel frets

No more photos yet but the estimated completion date has shifted from Nov 25 to May - June 25! I'm hoping for the end of May, just in time for festival season.

Fantastic looking Mk3! can't wait to see the final product with the black neck.

usually you only get three pics: the neck, and then when the body is done all before paint/clear coating, and then last when its all finished sitting in the case.

Just a clear gloss finish! No paint for this haha. That would be blasphemous with such a gorgeous topwood.

His post on September 26th says its getting a blacked-out neck.

 

Back in 2019 I had and order in progress for a Mk3 in white (arrived in 2022). For a quick minute I had Paul send me a few ziricote samples as I had considered maybe changing to gloss ziricote with a black painted neck. 

But I nixed the idea and stayed the course with white as I had the agenda my last three orders would be red, white, & blue. My blue Mk1 order should be getting painted as we speak, already had my workshop pic sent over a month ago.
