Ruarl Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 After a few months of scuttlebutt, it's here! https://www.quilterlabs.com/collections/bass-amplifiers/products/bass-block-v803 My first impression is they've learned some lessons about making a radical-ish amp. They've kept a few of their really unique radical ideas (I don't understand the implementation, but the power section sounds like something quite unique.) but they've made some things more palatable, or ordinary, like they EQ section. I hope this sells well. I love my 800. 1 Quote
BigRedX Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 The website says that both the headphones and line out sockets have speaker have cab sims applied to them, but doesn't say what kind of a cab, or mention if there is any way of turning this off. The manual doesn't mention cab-sims on these outputs at all. Quote
Stofferson Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Just read the manual, The modern input setting has no cab sims on the DI and headphones. No type of cab sim described, assume is just a set of filters to mimic what it describes below Quote
Lozz196 Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Only thing that looks doubtful to me is the treble frequency at 1kHz Quote
MuddBass Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 As a previous owner of a Quilter bass block, and now mesa user, I can't help but think that they've missed a few possibilities here - such as a variable HPF, 2 ohm output option, more mid control (e.g. high and low mids - or two paras). Everything at a cost, of course, and one persons opinion will be different to the next. An interesting amp, with some unique features. However, at the price point, it's a cluttered market place; could they have been braver? 2 Quote
ebenezer Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Do these have a fixed internal hpf filter?...I have an eich T900 and believe it doesn't have one. Quote
msb Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 The rumours started up last January , so I’m glad to see it finally surface. The BassTheWorld video is quite interesting. I just wish that somebody in town was stocking Quilter. I’d love to try one out. 1 Quote
eude Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 I have to say, you can colour me interested in this amp too. It sounds incredible in the BassTheWorld clip, but they usually do when someone as talented as Rene Flächsenhaar plays through it and it's recorded SO well... 1 Quote
TorturedSaints Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 If my original Bass Block ever fails, I’ll be looking for one of these. Quote
Musicman20 Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Quilter stuff is always well engineered. Fantastic USA price as well. Wonder what the UK price is?! Quote
MartinB Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 £699 at Andertons, £677 at Thomann. I think those are probably the only options since Wembley Music Centre closed down. 3 Quote
Marty Forrer Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Just gotta say, someone (not me!) dropped my 800 and damaged the volume pot. I emailed Pat Quilter to buy a new pot and he sent me a replacement pot free of charge. I live in New Zealand and he sent it priority! Customer service... top notch! 6 1 Quote

Where did you order the amp from originally,Marty? I'm in Southland NZ and would love a Quilter Quote
fabbabass Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I have the BB800 (amongst many other amps) and use various preamps with it; Bassics, Mesa +, Aguilar, Radial and it always delivers. Even the EQ is effective once you work out how it works and it really seems to slam in a way that so few Class D amps seem to when you turn them up. This new one seems to be a logical move towards market acceptance, but I don’t think I’d be ready to replace my made in USA unit just yet. 1 Quote
