bassbiscuits
Midway thru rejigging my pedalboard for acoustic guitar and realising that while some pedals adhere nicely to Velcro strips or dual lock, some (seem to be mainly the budget mini pedals like Mooer, Landlord etc) won’t stay stuck at all. The rubber bottom seems to resist anything, even gaffer tape. What’s that all about, and any suggestions to get around it? I was going to create a base from gaffer or electrical tape attached to the pedal’s metal sides and extending underneath it if all else fails. Hmm. ped
Cable ties! You can also remove the base and make a new one from something flat. I believe you can even buy such plates for Boss pedals, for example.
fretmeister
Cable ties, or remove the rubber bit on the bottom. For some pedals - like Boss - you can buy metal only replacement plates for only a few quid.
Matt P
I just peel the rubber off, there is usually a nice flat metal plate underneath ready to accept the velcro. the screws sit proud of the base but the thickness of the velcro is enough that they still sit perfectly on the board. I've got a small box full of the rubber plates, if i come to sell a pedal i just include it for the buyer so they can re-fit if they wish. warwickhunt
The Mooer pedals have a nice shiny sticker covering the base... rip this off for a start as their own velcro won't stick to it for long!
stewblack
I use the screws which hold the base plate to secure a flat piece of plastic (from any used container) and glue to that 3
bassbiscuits
Thanks all - some good ideas there. I’ve gone with some tape for now but I’ve got some back up ideas from you if that doesn’t work. Nice one.
Jean-Luc Pickguard
I’ve gone a bit OCD and now only have boss pedals on my bass and guitar pedalboards. I discovered very early on that it was pointless trying to get self adhesive velcro to stick to the rubber base of the pedals. I have bought and fitted replacement metal bases to several of the pedals, but also removed the rubber foot from some of the pedals by heating it with the missus’s hairdryer, peeling it off and cleaning any remaining residue from the metal bases with lighter fluid before applying the velcro strip. This is all done with the base removed from the pedal just in case.
MuddBass
On some pedals, take the base plate off and flip it over before screwing back on. This has worked for me on some pedals.
