Speaker out on a Fender Pro Jr IV

We have one of these at work. We suspect it is quite a tone monster because it is super responsive. But it is breathing through a 1x10" in a small combo cab which is a bit anaemic. If we could plug it into either our 2x12 or our 4x12 then I am guessing we would be pleasantly surprised.

Would it work for us to splice the speaker lead and solder it into a mounted jack socket which could either accept a jack lead going straight to the internal speaker or a lead out to a bigger cab?

I would not want to run both speakers at the same time, I am aware of matching the Ohms and not running the amp without a speaker load on it.

Am I missing anything?

TIA.

There's an article here about modding one so you can add an external cab at the same time (I know that's not exactly what you're asking) but that seems to suggest it can run a 4ohm load so I don't see why you couldn't do as you suggest - but the mods might make it more useable all-round:

Thanks, I had seen that one but we will never want to run it with both speakers at the same time. It will be purely a recording amp. It will either go through an Orange 4x12 or a Victory 2x12.
