NDBD: Squier Affinity Jaguar H (first D is for damaged, not double)

Show's over - DHL picked up the bass this afternoon.  I really don't understand why Thomann couldn't have let me keep the bass for like £100 or something - it's barely worth that now.  It must have cost them to send DHL to my door.  There's an invoice in there for around £30 for my time, mileage and packing materials I had to buy to make up for their utter lack of them in the original packaging.

Oh well.  Hopefully get my refund in the next couple of weeks.

Radio silence for 2 days, very inefficient.  So I get my webchat on.  They still don't seem to have it yet (although they can see it was picked up from me and got to wherever it was supposed to go in the UK a couple of days later, so at least that's something) and suddenly it's 20 working days to process a return, not 15 as mentioned in all the emails about it thus far.  OK then, you might want to edit your emails to reflect this.

Well, I've shaken the tree, hopefully some money will fall out of it soon.  Must confess, this faff is beginning to sour my opinion of Thomann - not to the point of boycott or anything, but eye narrowing is going on.

I don't think they can be bothered with UK customers any more, returns must be much more difficult/costly for them to process. Couple that with them being a box shifting volume seller means it might be less lucrative when inadequately packaged cheaper items end up damaged. When I returned a bass to them two years ago it was all wrapped up much faster than this.

Would have been a better idea all round to ask you to make a video of the damage making sure the serial number was visible then just offer a decent chunk of money off.

Been through all that rigmarole (except the video) - their offer was derisory.

Unbelievable.  Store credit?!  EFF OFF, I want a refund.  No email either, apparently that happened yesterday, the only reason I knew anything had happened is that I've got a random amount of money in a bank transfer today from Thomann (my cheeky invoice maybe, but not the amount I invoiced them for?).  What in the hell is going on?

This is pretty bloody poor show.  Bad comms.  Away to chase them up again.

Right, I think they've got very confused.  On further digging I figured out what the "random" part refund is - I used a gift voucher to partially pay for the bass, and the amount tallies up with the value of the gift voucher.  But where's the rest of it?

I imagine they have issued or will issue a gift voucher. Why they can't give chapter and verse on the state of play is ridiculous. They've gone down in my estimation.
