Go For it , I'd Kill for that  !

The logistics are currently beyond me unfortunately, alongside probably needing to buy 4x new KT88 tubes for it (at close to £200 again).

Oops, 2x10 also came up for £40 on facebook yesterday, right off my commute home... just need to come up with a suitable excuse for the gear abstinence thread... but I didn't know my 4x10 was even expecting a baby?

So just seen this in the market place as the seller just dropped his price. The connundrum is I think it is still over-priced by a fair bit, but the gentlemanly side of me thinks I shouldn't say anything unless giving an offer myself, and thus he should be free to get the best price he can... I stuck a picture from the facebook listing underneath.

That is close enough for me to consider.  I don't have that sort of money right now and I'm not gigging.  Apart from that...

I hope the seller gets a fair price.  It looks well looked after.

It's a sweet rig and similar to mine. I really like the GP12 head, probably my favourite TE head, and if it was closer would put in an offer - the heads go for a max of £300 on their own, although I'm holding out for something around the £200 mark closer to me.

This thread is really doing me no favours.

Getting very interested in the idea of a nice old trace head, mounted in a new lightweight sleeve partnered with a modern high power 12" cab (X2)

Score - just need to work out what's wrong with it when I pick it up tomorrow.

Apart from the weight, you mean? 😁

Picked it up today - does not work at all as someone plugged two amps into it at the same time - apparently it was backline at a festival and the new bass player didn't realise the other amp was still connected... will probably take the weekend to test each speaker, cross-over etc. but for £20 it's worth it just for the entertainment!

In other news I did actually get the rear shocks replaced on the car two weeks ago, reframing it as vindication for only gigging proper manly cabs - thus said I could have bought a rather nice barefaced cab for the same cost as the car repairs 🤘

This is exactly my current rig…

Yah - so all the speakers had been replaced at somepoint in the past, and even still the 15 and one of the 10s are blown. The cross over for the tweeter has also been fiddled with and no longer works, but the tweeter seems fine... so for £20 it's a case plus tweeter in pretty good condition, but I need to find replacement speakers and a cross over... still worth it for a punt!

In other news I picked one of these up in loads better condition the other day for £40 (see above post). Was impressed this was more than ten times more expensive despite being older and looking in worse condition - mind you his user name...!

I would say it’s time for an intervention, but that’s not really what we do here! 😂

oops.. got it for £90 in the end. My plan is to flip the speakers into the TE1015H & 2103x to get both cabs working again, and then take advantage of the split grill design to turn this cab into a cool set of draws using some old B&Q soft closing kitchen draws I have lying around. Before anyone says that is sacrilege, I just want to say this isn't a "real" TE cab as it's from the early Peavey era. Mind you I did feel a bit bad when the chap said "goodbye old friend" as I closed the car boot 😞

@SimonK we need a shot of all your TE gear in one place, if your back can handle moving them all on the same day that is.

...I'm planning something for this summer - problem is I have it distributed across four different places and one of those involves a narrow flight of stairs and the 1818x...

With thanks to my electronics mate we spent the afternoon flipping speakers:

The 4x10 has now been disembowled awaiting it's fate as a piece of furniture, while the 1015H now has three new (to it) genuine TE branded Celestions and is back to sounding awesome!

The other two Celestion 10s will be going into the 2103x to get it back up to its original glory, but we need to get a new attenuator built first.
