Mykesbass
At the ripe old age of 60 I have got myself a cracking new job so will be moving at the end of the month to Wolverhampton (or nearby). After putting any band plans on hold knowing I would eventually be moving I am itching to get started once I get there. Any recommendations - jam nights, open mic, rehearsal rooms, local band finding pages other than Bandmix/Join My Band (oh, and I don't have a Facebook account, but if there are good resources on there I could be tempted to open a new page). Genre wise, I'm quite open, but leaning towards a sort of Americana, Country-Blues-Rock original music sort of vibe.
mybass
Good luck Mike, that’s a big time move, I’m sure there’ll be music enough around the Wolves area.

Thanks Pete - yes, got to be a bit livelier than it is around here!
rushbo
Welcome to God's Country, Mike! I'm a displaced Brummie who's lived in Halesowen since 2001. I'm about 10 miles south of Wolvo, so my advice might not all be applicable but here you go... Venues: Some great ones - The Wulfrun Hall, The Civic Hall, KKs Steel Mill, Newhampton Arts Centre, Bilston Robin 2. Rehearsal Rooms - I've only used Base Studios in Stourbridge which was very good. Open Mics: Sunday Shenanigans in Stourbridge is good. Its based at Claptrap which is occasionally used for gigs. I've seen some great bands there. You're a 21 minute train ride from Brum, which opens up loads more possibilities. Edited October 6 by rushbo

thebrig
I'm in Bridgnorth which is about 15 mies from Wolverhampton, I moved here ten years ago from Hertfordshire and I've found the the music scene to be pretty good up this way, although I am struggling to find a band at the moment. It might be worth looking here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/westmidlandsmusicians/
