Van Morrison had just released a new album the week before the gig. He came on stage at the begining and said: "We're going to play the new album for the first set, then we'll go off for a little break and then when we come back, we'll play some songs that you've heard before." So they played the new album for the first set... Went for a break... And when they came back... They played the new album for the second set.... And then went home! Isn’t that an old Neil Young anecdote about the “Tonight’s The Night” album too…? Edited January 9 by TrevorR Quote

He didn’t once communicate with the audience and sat on a stool for most of the gig, randomly picking up a guitar or an alto sax occasionally ( and being pretty dreadful on both IIRC ). Thinking he must have been having an ‘off day’ and being a fan of his stuff, I booked to see him again a year or so later at the same venue. He was exactly the same then too. 😆 1 2 Quote
Mickeyboro Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Off topic maybe, but I got into VM through the 1974 Whistle Test TV broadcast of Its Too Late To Stop Now. None of the dozen gigs I saw live could hold a candle to it, and I still rate the album in my Top 5 live recordings ever… 1 Quote
