Am I correct in thinking it is just the electronics that is different between the american standard jazz and the american deluxe jazz basses? Also, does the deluxe have passive capabilities as well as being active? Any other differences please let me know. Played an an american standard jazz yesterday and it was amazing! Think I prefer them to the 75 re issues that I originally wanted!

My American deluxe jazz has a smaller body than a standard jazz which I much prefer. It is active only. The general quality is very high and it's a sturdy workhorse of a bass.

I have the American Deluxe Pbass and its a beautiful instrument. Great range of tones and silky smooth to play. Flung on a set of Thomastik Infield flats when I got it - - heaven :)

American Deluxe P here. Smaller body than the standard (mine's only 8lbs 5oz) and active only electronics. I think the same applies to the Jazz.

I know some aren't keen but I like mine a lot.

All down to taste :)[/quote]

Yes, I like the American Deluxe and the Standard P.
