ped
Hi folks I have a Blackstar combo with powered extension cab, so therefore each has a kettle lead and I need two plugs. Both of these leads are a bit short so I was going to replace them. It got me thinking - could I get a single plug with two male IEC connectors like this one without blowing me or (preferably) anyone else up? Cheers
BigRedX
So long as the combined INPUT power rating of the amp and power cab doesn't exceed the rating of the cable you'll be fine.
Matt P
these cables are very useful providing you are within the power limits, I'm using a 4 into 1 cable to connect up my recording setup, only a single socket for the whole rack case, i went through each rack unit and checked that they had proper internal fuses and that the whole lot was well under the rating of the cable. my setup goes to an IEC socket as well which limits it to 10A but i'm well under that. ped
Thanks both, I'll have to check the input power rating (what will that be given in, amps?)... I thought it would be a similar thing to plugging in two IEC cables into an extension strip.
BigRedX
Power rating should be in Watts. The lead (and fuse in the plug) will be rated in amps. Watts / Volts = Amps
ped
Thank you - the amplifier is 500w and the extension is 250. The cable says 1200w max power which is OK and a 13A fuse
PaulThePlug
Are the Kettle End in the Y long enough?

When stacked on top of each other the inputs aren’t that far away from each other.
Chienmortbb
The IEC connectors are rated at 10 Amps, if they are to the standard. Many far east leads are 5 Amps at best so be careful.
deepbass5
I have done this running two heads one as a pre-amp works fine. I now use the lead for two floor lights and two tails a fairly long 👍 Edited October 16 by deepbass5
