Brian18242
Very little online review wise of these basses. They look quite nice. Anyone got one? Certainly a lot cheaper than a Warwick.
BlueMoon
I think they are made by Mayones in Poland. The Fame-branded instruments are a single dealer offering - available from Music Store Professional in Germany. I don’t have one, but Mayones is a well regarded boutique builder.
Brian18242
Yes, they look great, but the basses seem to have generated very little interest in the bass community. Probably not helpful when the brand seems to do very little marketing 😁 Edited October 8 by Brian18242
PinkMohawk
With a name like 'Fame' I'll be honest, I was expecting typical, low priced dustbin fodder, but those look lovely really. Obvious Warwick inspiration, especially with the MEC electronics, and I'd have loved to see the two piece bridge, but I guess that might have been a step too far along the knock-off line for them. Definitely being built by Mayones too. Interesting that they're selling 'handmade in Europe' instruments for such a reasonable price too. I'd like to see a walkthrough of their process to see how much hand-work is going into these for them to make that claim.
NancyJohnson
That's a fair old wedge for a blind purchase on an instrument manufactured and sold exclusively through two retailers. Conflicted with stuff like this. While I'm never going to buy one, even if I did I'd be asking myself how much it'll be worth (or how much I'm going to lose) when it inevitably gets moved on and whether I just should have simply have - given the inevitable comparisons - saved a bit more swag and pulled the trigger on a Warwick or Spector instead.

Early (1990s) versions of the Fame Baphomet and the Mayones Be4 and Be5 it was based on actually did have the 2-piece Warwick bridge! Bolo
Never heard a bad word about them, not sound or build quality.
dub_junkie
I had a Mayones BE-4 fretless. Wonderful bass which had MEC pickups and preamp and had the convex/curved body shape of the Warwich Thumbs and Streamers. Build quality was very high.
Graham
I had a Mayones Be4, superb bass; I've considered getting a Baphomet 5 as they're very well priced for what you get
Brian18242
They do look wonderful, just surprised there is very little in the way of reviews or marketing.
Doctor J
I used to have a Mayones BE4, it had genuine a Warwick Schaller-made two-part bridge, Schaller tuners, MEC active pickups and pre, a very nice bass for sod all money. They all seem to be quite plain looking though, perhaps they might command more cash if they used fancier wood.
