3V17C Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Local guitar builder Guyton Guitars has for a while been producing official Brian May Red Special guitars, but seems he's made a bass version too! I'm not a big queen fan, but its quite nice and pretty unique... peace c Quote
BarnacleBob Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 That is pretty cool! Reminds me of a Dan Armstrong! BB Quote
lemmywinks Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 That's actually really nice, the shape seems more suited to bass too! Maybe Brian was a closet bass hero relegated to guitar by Deacy's outrageous shorts............ Quote

Eight Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) Does this mean a load of people in Asia are currently missing their fireplaces? Edit: Sorry, didn't notice it wasn't made in Asia. Edited May 28, 2009 by Eight Quote
EBS_freak Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 That's cool! I like. Not sure I would have chosen that as a neck pickup but either way, I'd quite like one!! Quote
cetera Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Ooh! That's nice Kinda like an old Ovation bass.... Any price guide on this? Quote
Bassassin Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 That reminds me of old Uncle Ned: Now forever to be known as the Ned Special? /coat. Jon. Quote
thisnameistaken Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Looks better than his guitar! I'm surprised, I thought this would be minging. Quote
neepheid Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Would have looked better without the mudbucker - stick to the Burns Tri-sonic (or equivalent), 2 or 3 of them would have looked much better, and much closer to the guitar version it's trying to ape. Quote
Dubs Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Looks a bit odd to me, I'm not really a fan of it. Quote
Buzz Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Interesting choice of the Gibbo 3 point bridge on it, considering it's not very good. Quote

Machines Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Hmm, that seems to work actually ! Brian May is a fantastic bassist and has been an example to me for many years now. Quote
josh3184 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 well there's a double on the 7th and 19th which isn't usual but the 12th is correct. Who doesn't want to know where their 7th fret is? Quote

12stringbassist Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I don't like the bridge at all. Gibson bridges generally suck. The rest of it looks nice. Quote

Something like a bent tin fender or a big chunky modern looking thing would just not fit the bass look... Quote

Possibly would consider a Hipshot Supertone as well. Quote
