Anyway a copy of some kind. Quote
oldslapper Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Badly placed decal too, let alone the wonky machineheads. Quote
theplumber Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Contacted E bay about this....they said it doesn't go against their standards...usual crap. Contacted the seller who insists it's a genuine Fender. He asked me to tell him why it wasn't! Where do you start! Then said what do you think it's worth then? I told him £50 on a good day! But change the listing and start low. He has put it up again at same price stating again it's genuine. Buyer beware blah blah blah! 1 Quote
ash Posted October 14, 2024 Author Posted October 14, 2024 I notice it’s listed as Precision bass now but still described as a Fender in the main advert. 2 Quote
ash Posted October 15, 2024 Author Posted October 15, 2024 Ah it’s been revised again and rather price lowered- although still overpriced. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/365177551517?_skw=bass&itmmeta=01JA7PR2JZA5DXJQ7X9VDG1WED&hash=item5506473a9d%3Ag%3A0lIAAOSwYXVnDQvv&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwHoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmSf7AedpQVnssYB7E9kFphxjCjhBKayBV8dJGuHPD8yOs7jFxdZi7qDnqufEJSq6u6R0GQxgqaHVJ4fRTtHD57h%2Bw%2BKQetv3wc73Zl78voZ8OQfERXaDe6bDb6Khijo3uWLtgz7ylw%2BqkkIWBiiDQrWHlSlmzKePtV55pAQUtr8Q%2FbdTsutPPUOtIn4pbByiX%2F%2B7jUHOfDgxIbEtI9uxoALvgBbiGfQ0F79%2FCczPAAxA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8ip4PbRZA&LH_ItemCondition=3000 Quote
Reggaebass Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 I saw that too, I hope someone doesn’t buy it believing it’s genuine Quote
Lozz196 Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Yep, anyone with a smattering of familiarity of Fenders looking at that shot of the rear of the head-stock would just go "nah", sadly someone may well end up falling for it. Quote
Dan Dare Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 At least the strap's Fender... Should be titled "Imprecise bass guitar" Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Its not even a squier. Probably worth about £100 on a good day with the wind behind it. 1 Quote

tauzero Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 If I were ever to hit my head and find myself wanting a P, the amount of fakes would completely put me off as I wouldn't be confident of spotting a fake. However, in this case, wouldn't one expect to see a serial number somewhere if it was genuine - neckplate or headstock? Quote

A problem with all Fenders, with their all-bolted construction. It's so easy to screw a load of parts together and make a few solder joints. I've always thought it likely that many "custom" builders use parts from Warmoth and similar to create "custom" Strats, etc. Sure, they will iron out any rough edges and finish them nicely, but essentially, they are offering assembled kit guitars, often at high prices. I'd certainly be wary of any bargain "Fender". Buying new is the safest option, or if used, from a dealer. Then you have some redress. Quote
