neepheid Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Any ideas, BC hive mind? (the middle, amber coloured one) Quote
MichaelDean Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I can't be of any help, but I don't hate it. 1 Quote
hiram.k.hackenbacker Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 My first thought was Ibanez, but I can't find anything like it. Tried a reverse image search as well and drew a blank. Quote
BlueMoon Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 My first thought was a ESP Bottom Bump………but the upper horn contour isn’t quite correct. i’m also thinking it might be from Ibanez, but can’t for the life of me give a model suggestion. Quote
binky_bass Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 @neepheid - where did that image come from? Any further clues to be gained from revealing the source of the photo? Quote
Reggaebass Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Quite a chunky bridge that I don’t recognise and large pole pieces on the pickups, I’d be interested to know what it is too , is that 24 frets Quote

itu Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 (edited) Neck: bolt-on, 24 frets, maple, widish. Body: very asymmetric. This is distinctive, and should lead us to the right brand. Edited October 20, 2024 by itu Quote
Cato Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 (edited) The inward curve on the bottom of the bass is ringing some bells, but, for want of a better word, that 'ledge' carved into the side is really distinctive but doesn't ring any bells at all. Not sure I've ever seen a bass that has that before. Edited October 20, 2024 by Cato Quote
AndyTravis Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 No. I think cheap bass trying to look expensive. not horrific. possible own brand, like Carlos robelli type stuff in US? Quote
Aidan63 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 As Hellzero says looks like a Chinese copy in the style of Ken Smith BSR ? 1 Quote
simisker Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Judging by the extremely underwhelming poplar burl facing, I'd say it was a modern Spector. 1 1 Quote
JapanAxe Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 There’s a row of stuff like that at the back of A. Remus Sound in Gloucester. Quote
tauzero Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I've definitely seen that flourish around the rear strap button before - probably AliExpress as I do go roaming there fairly often. Quote
lemmywinks Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 (edited) AliExpress BTB knockoff? The carve and accuracy of the dark veneer stripe looks too good for that though, they're usually super wonky. That bridge looks like a cheap import I had on on my Shine 6er and also on my old Cort for a bit, can't see enough of it to be sure though. Edited October 21, 2024 by lemmywinks 1 Quote
pete.young Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Pickups look a little bit like Delano. Quote
snorkie635 Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Might we have found evidence of 'innovation' from Fender then? 🤭 5 Quote
BassApprentice Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Still no closer to working out what this is - the bottom edge of the body has kind of been stolen/inspired by Dingwall maybe? But the rest of it looks pretty generic. Funny how even with the power of the internet, you still can't answer everything. Quote
tauzero Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 I just lifted my Jamstik off the stand (it was hidden behind something else) and the reason for the familiarity of that flourish round the strap button becomes clear. I'd done some research when I first got this, and it's based on an Asmuse Leaf. However, although they make basses, they're all headless, which is a Good Thing in some ways but doesn't help with an ID on the subject at hand. Quote
EMG456 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Is it not maybe a Tune bass? Japanese manufacturer first seen in the 80s with the Tune BassManiac. I may be wrong cause the cut in the bottom of the body looks the wrong way round. Looks like a nicely made instrument. Quote
