Alice in Chains bass on Sap

I'm trying (but failing) to pin down that growly tone on Sap, particularly evident on 'Got Me Wrong'. Can anyone hazard a guess at, or knows what gear he's using? Cheers.

Great record. That was Mike Inez playing and it sounds like his usual Spector and Ampeg SVT combination. The acoustic rather than electric guitars really let it cut right through.
