TbirdnTalman
Dear All Just wondered if you can help, no luck on the general internet.... We are excited to be going to see Pretenders for the n th time in many years later this week, and i was looking on YouTube and saw a video of a recent UK gig where Nick Wilkinson is playing what looks a bit like a blacktop fender except it's red with a black plate and has four knobs and I think two switches . Just wondered if any of you experts knew what it was please? I don't think that the vids are necessarily supposed to be there given copyright etc so I am not linking here Thanks v much 🙂
LeftyJ
If you mean this, it's a Peavey T-40:

meterman
Yep, he also has another Peavey in black, and an Aria 'lawsuit' Precision copy with a cheeky Fender logo on the headstock. He's used Peaveys with The Pretenders on every video I've seen when he's been with them. Not sure what he used on the recent Foo Fighters gigs, but I've not seen any pics or videos, just heard from him that he was doing the gigs. Really decent guy and a brilliant all rounder - bass, guitar, vocals, keys, drums as well if I remember right?
Lozz196
I’ve just got back from seeing them at The London Palladium and he was using the very same bass. Good sound too, really fitted in the mix well (which was also a really good sound).

JellyKnees
Saw them in Liverpool last night, they sounded ace. Chrissy was clearly struggling a bit with a hip/leg problem towards the end, but she still delivered a great performance. Don't point your camera phone at her though (I'm with her on this). The bass looked all black to me - we were up in the circle so I couldn't tell what is was unfortunately.
petebassist
Saw them at Bristol Beacon a couple of weeks back. I didn't recognize what Nick was playing, and was expecting to be able to hear the bass clearly at this venue (famous for its acoustics), but although he played great, the tone I was getting near the front at the left of the stage was muddy and uninspiring. There was one intro or ending where the just the bass was played but even then I didn't think it came across that well. Shame because a punchy bass tone goes so well with Chrissie's songs. Or maybe I need my ears cleaned out...
cetera
As has already been said, that's NOT Nick Wilkinson. It's David Page.
