danbowskill Posted Thursday at 15:34 Share Posted Thursday at 15:34 (edited) Probably a long shot but has anyone tried a standard fender neck with the Harley Benton P bodies? Are they compatible?. I've some nice parts for a bitsa bass ,just need a Alder body... These HB alder body basses are actually cheaper than most aftermarket Bodies I've come across. If they fit I'll get a nice colour one, strip n flog the parts. https://www.thomann.co.uk/harley_benton_mv_4p_black.htm Edited Thursday at 15:37 by danbowskill
BassApprentice Posted Thursday at 15:52 Share Posted Thursday at 15:52 (edited) I am sure someone will be along with an actual answer and measurements, but in the meantime I used a Harley Benton neck on a generic P Bass body and it fiit ma very small bit of filing so it would suggest that the necks and pockets are close to standard Fender-type measurements. Others may know better though! Edited Thursday at 15:52 by BassApprentice

songofthewind Posted Thursday at 19:11 Share Posted Thursday at 19:11 From my own experience, I would say you may need to shim it on at least one side. If it’s an HB Jazz Bass body, the holes for the pickup lugs will be in the wrong place if you use non HB pickups.
JohnDaBass Posted Friday at 07:57 Share Posted Friday at 07:57 The current HB offerings are great value for money and use good quality body wood. Being a tinkering/bitsa building addict I've modded quite a number of HBs. In my experience neck pockets are very, very close to Fender standard necks, BUT as always there maybe a small amount of fettling ( as @neepheid said). I recently added a couple of Thunderbird pups to a HB Mustang-a-like and the quality of the adler, while routering the pup cavities, seemed very decent indeed. Awhile ago I fitted a Fender MIM 32ins 22 fret Stu Hamm neck onto a HB Stingray HH and all that was needed at the neck pocket was veneer shim on the top edge of the pocket for cosmetic reasons only. I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck with the build.
