The bass sale that turned a (massive) corner… - *SOLD*
£2300
Manchester

I’ll just say this, as I know @AndyTravis probably won’t, in that the funds from the sale of the Ripper were to add towards what is going to be a fairly hefty invoice for all the works that need doing for Iris. £2,300 doesn’t come close to what Jen and Andy were promised they would be allocated only for the goal posts to have been shifted on them. I don’t see any harm in letting this roll for a bit so that Iris can get what she needs sooner rather than later.

I’ve just sent chapter and verse to @Clarky - my head has well and truly fallen off.

I am humbled and so grateful.

The gear sale may have to continue as there’s a lot of work to do (detailed in my essay to Clarky) - basically to make the thing work in its entirety, we have to lose the family living room and move the kitchen…

Iris will get her statutory grant - not anything like enough to follow the original plans of her own space; we will make it work somehow.

We could do a massive remortgage, but in a world where our mortgage payments went up about 25% last year - we cannot financially do it. We cannot relocate as we rely heavily on our family network for her appointments and the other kids too.

They did say there was a relocation Grant available…then told us the rules changed…because we work. 😒

My original idea of winning the lottery hasn’t quite worked as I’d planned…

What I do know is this…you’re all absolutely feckin brilliant.

Please do not remortgage.. please do not get a loan to consolidate . Been there . Done that. Crashed and burned . 😬These things very rarely work out well . The only other thing if I may , location is most important . If the area you live in suits you and the family , stay there .  Wishing you all a positive outcome going forward ..

To everyone involved, I’m baffled.

I have to make a really clear point - we’re not destitute hand out folk at all - really not.

This is an odd scenario for me and I’m rubbish at accepting help and knowing what to do with it.

As a family we’ve always persevered and somehow managed where we’re at…

I know this is not unique, I know all of you have lives, trials and tribulations.

So I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Jenny is knocked out by this - sends her love and thanks.

But we have been sold a “dream” and hung onto it for over 4 years - the reality is, Iris manages most tasks, but has zero independence because I have to carry her upstairs or monitor her climbing (she’s able to do this, but has a very fragile head due to Hydrocephalus so it’s risky) - she cannot get herself onto a toilet etc, so she has to be in Pull ups which she’s now becoming embarrassed about.

We could’ve moved house - but they assured us they could adapt ours with an extension with a lift, sort of a mini house for iris.

I cannot put enough words into this.

I’m stunned.

@Clarky you are a bloody great person.

Please. Its not on me. I merely catalysed a wonderful community into action. BassChat deserves the thanks and Iris deserves this most of all

It’s just the intent, the want to help - the thought process.

It’s blown my mind.

As I’ve said in another post…to all involved, you’re all welcome if you’re ever passing. I cannot express enough gratitude.

I'm genuinely going to Manchester from Essex tomorrow, can we do it then instead? 😄

If you want to join me in work surrounded by 1000 teenagers in Salford…

I think Iris has become our collective mascot (if it wasn't already a pair of dachshunds........wait a minute, I'm a cat lover!).

On a serious note, I suspect many of us are parents and we fight ferociously for the wellbeing of our children.  I think we are just expressing the support that we can for you.  Life has some horrible twists and turns and it is just affirmative for all of us to help your family Andy.
